For the period January-June 2013, the value of goods exported from Latin America and the Caribbean to Asia- Pacific amounted to 102,000 million dollars, with an increase of 5.1% as compared to the same period in the year 2012. Such increase was significantly less than the increase of the first semesters of 2011 and 2012 (11%).
For the same period, regional imports of goods originating in Asia-Pacific reached 142,000 million dollars, where the increase was also lower as compared to the first semester of 2012. The region still has a commercial deficit with Asia-Pacific, amounting to 40,000 million dollars in the first half of 2013.
